Overview
We are currently looking for a Part-Time Laboratory General Operative to support a busy soil and environmental testing laboratory.
This is hands-on role focused primarily on maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring high cleanliness standards are met. It is well suited to someone reliable, practical, and comfortable working in lab support environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Thorough cleaning and washing of laboratory apparatus, including sample containers, tubs, trays, and testing equipment
- Ensuring all lab equipment is cleaned to required standard and ready for reuse
- Supporting soil and environmental testing operations through general lab upkeep
- Cleaning and maintaining work surfaces and designated lab areas
- Assisting with handling, organising, and moving soil and environmental samples
- Disposing of waste materials in line with lab procedures
- Carrying out general housekeeping and support duties as required
Experience
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when cleaning equipment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions carefully
- Comfortable working in a practical, hands-on role
- Able to work independently and as a part of team
- Previous experience in cleaning, warehouse or laboratory environments is required
